The Dominican Youths of Birgu have donated €1,200 to Puttinu Cares, following a fundraising activity organised last June in aid of the foundation.
The donation was presented yesterday, on the occasion of the liturgical feast of St Dominic, the patron saint whose feast is celebrated with great devotion by the Dominican community in Birgu.
The funds were raised through “Nofstanhar ix-Xatt b’risq Puttinu Cares”, a day organised by the Dominican Youths at the Birgu waterfront in aid of Puttinu Cares. The initiative brought together members of the community while supporting the important work carried out by the foundation for patients and their families.
The donation was also announced on the official Facebook page of Puttinu Cares, which acknowledged the contribution made by the Dominican Youths of Birgu.
For the Dominican Youths, however, the initiative represents more than simply an activity connected with the annual feast of St Dominic. They stressed that their mission goes beyond the celebration of their patron saint and includes a commitment to reaching out to people who are facing difficulties and are in need of support.
Following the example and teachings of St Dominic, the youths seek to put their faith into action through solidarity, service and practical assistance to those who need it most.
The contribution to Puttinu Cares is therefore another expression of this commitment, demonstrating how the work of the Dominican Youths continues beyond the traditional celebrations and into the wider community.
Through initiatives such as “Nofstanhar ix-Xatt b’risq Puttinu Cares”, the Dominican Youths of Birgu are showing that the spirit of the feast can also be lived through generosity and care for others.
